What is the SGC at Naramake?

School Governance Councils were created by the state’s recent education reform law (Public Act 10-111) to enable parents, school staff, students (where appropriate), and community leaders to work together to improve student achievement in the state's lowest-performing schools. School Governance Councils serve in an advisory capacity and are charged with assisting the school administration in making programmatic and operational changes to improve the school’s achievement.

The Naramake School Governance Council is comprised of seven parents, two community members, five certified staff members, and a school administrator.

The SGC serves an important role to the school administrators by bringing the parents, school staff, students, and other community leaders to work together to improve students learning experience and assist the school administration in making decisions that impact student’s education.

Our SGC meets on the first Monday of every month at 5:30 pm. Our goals as a committee are to listen to ideas among all members, use our voices to influence decisions about our school and students, and support the vision of Naramake Elementary School to ‘nurture hearts and empower the minds of all of our students.
